Frank Eugene “Gene” Kirkman, age 80, of Statesville, passed away Wednesday January 11, 2017 at Gordon Hospice House after a lengthy illness. He was born June 5, 1936 in Iredell County to the late Frank Kirkman and Mary Alma Patterson Kirkman. Mr. Kirkman served in the National Guard. He retired from Lucent Technologies as a Line Technologist. He was also a member of Stony Point Presbyterian ARP Church.

He is survived by his wife, Nora Rains Kirkman of the home; a daughter, Vickie K. Schlichting and husband Erik of Conover; a step son, Tony Barnes of Lake Clear, NY; two step daughters, Donna Sanders and husband Ed of Newark, DE, and Anne B. Lawing of Charlotte; four grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted 2:00pm Saturday January 14, 2017 at Stony Point Presbyterian ARP Church. Rev. Walter Fleming will officiate. Burial will follow in the Stony Point Cemetery. The body will lie in state thirty minutes prior to funeral hour.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Stony Point Presbyterian ARP Church 9196 NC 90 Hwy East, Stony Point, NC 28678 or Hospice of Iredell County 2347 Simonton Rd., Statesville, NC 28625.
