She was born July 19, 1946, in Cycle, NC, the daughter of the late Zeb and Martha York Souther. She was a graduate of Wilkes Central High School and Alverson Draughn Business College. On June 15, 1969, she married James Clyde Estes, who survives. She was a homemaker, a member of New Bethany Baptist Church, and loved gardening, crossword puzzles, and Braves baseball.
In addition to her husband of 50 years, she is survived by three daughters, Cherry Reynolds (Christian) of Charlotte, Elizabeth Dixon of Taylorsville, and Victoria Fox (Chris) of Stony Point; five grandchildren, Samantha, Zachary (Abby), Cody, CJ, and Emily; four great-grandchildren, Aleeah, Rylyn, Carl, Audree; and her special canine companion, Coco. Also surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Carolyn Flanagan and Mrs. Ellen Mastin; and three brothers, Terry, Isaac, and John Mark.
She was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Jerry and Daniel. She loved her special friends Kenneth and Charlie Mae Imes. A Funeral Service will be conducted at New Bethany Baptist Church in Statesville, Friday, August 30, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. Rev. Bill Mason will officiate. The family will receive friends at Chapman Funeral Home in Stony Point on Thursday, August 29, 2019 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and at other times at the home.
