Ben Stikeleather, age 94 of 128 Farm House Road, Statesville, passed away, Sunday February 12, 2017 at Gordon Hospice House. He was born October 31, 1922 in Iredell County to the Lemuel Russell Stikeleather and Frances Carolyn “Bessie” Stikeleather.

Mr. Stikeleather retired from the Statesville Chair Co. after 50 years of service. He loved yard work, gardening and driving through the countryside enjoying the view. He was also a Charter member and former Deacon of Yadkin Baptist Church.


In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 70 years, Nettie Kathryn Hager Stikeleather; a son, David Benjamin Stikeleather; three brothers, Lewis Stikeleather, Jim Stikeleather, and Robert Stikeleather; three sisters, Lucille Stamper, Leona Shoemaker, and Frances Mayberry.

He is survived by his son, Paul Stikeleather and wife Lisa; two daughters, A. Elaine Stikeleather London, and Kathy Stikeleather Lindley and husband John; a sister, Shirley S. Safriet and husband Jake; ten grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; and two great great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted 1:00pm Saturday February 18, 2017 at Yadkin Baptist Church. Rev. Tony Bunton will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. There will be no formal visitation.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the charity of your choice.
