Anna Lee Phillips Smith, 72, of 3794 Collettsville Road, Lenoir, passed away Sunday, May 24, 2009 at Caldwell Memorial Hospital after an extended illness. She was born April 12, 1937 in Watauga County to the late Newton Phillips, Sr. and Flara Main Phillips. She was a retired textile worker and a member of Mulvale Baptist Church. |
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Bobby Ray Smith; two brothers, Jordon Phillips, Robert Phillips; one sister, Debra Phillips; one grandson, Alexander Burton.
She is survived by one son, Allan Smith of Vale; four daughters, Pamela Chester and husband Sam, Shannon Burton and husband Scott both of Collettsville, Kim Parsons of Taylorsville, Donna Michaels and husband Kevin of Glen Alpine; one brother, Newton Phillips, Jr. of Granite Falls; two sisters, Joyce Gryder of Granite Falls, and Donnie Lackey of Stony Point; five grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted 3:00pm Wednesday May 27, 2009 at Mulvale Baptist Church. Rev. Stanley Townsend will be officiating. Burial will be in the Whitnel First Baptist Church Cemetery. Family will receive friends Tuesday May 26, 2009 at Mulvale Baptist Church from 7-9pm.
