Richard Eugene “Rick” Cranford, age 55, of 18 Rebel Ridge Circle, Hiddenite, passed away Friday May 22, 2009 at Iredell Memorial Hospital. He was born on April 19, 1954 in Alexander County to the late Robert “Bob” Cranford and Ethel Mae Pennell Cranford. He was a carpenter and of the baptist faith.

He is survived by his wife, Shelley Kuhns Cranford of the home; two daughters, Caiti Cranford of the home and Heather Cranford of Statesville; two sisters, Pam Watts and husband Jerry of Stony Point, and Penny Cranford of Taylorsville; and a number of nephews and nieces.
A memorial service will be conducted 2:00 pm Monday May 25, 2009 at Chapman Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Charles Williams will officiate. The family will receive friends 1:00-2:00 pm prior to the service and other times at the home of his sister, Pam at 112 Jackson Lane, Stony Point.
Memorials may be given to the Hospice of Alexander County, 50 Lucy Echerd Lane, Taylorsville, NC 28681.

| To the Cranford family, I don't know you but we did know Rick, my husband passed away three months ago but Rick used to come by and talk to him from time to time, he was such a likeable person, he will be missed. Our heart goes out to you and pray that God will hold you in his loving arms and he will help to heal your heart, without my faith in God I would never have made it through pete's passing, you and your family will be in our prayers----

| In this life it is a treasure to have a friend whose friendship is unconditional, that is the kind of friend Rick Cranford was to me. I loved him like he was my own brother and it brings much joy to my heart just to have had the privilege to know him. It saddens me to think that on this earth, I will never see him again, but he will be forever in my heart and the fond memories of him will never fade. Rick's passing came as a shock to us all and I hope in time to be able to come to terms with it, but for now I can only grieve for the loss of my dear friend and offer my sincerest condolences to the Cranford family.
