Clyde Hubert Coffey, age 75 of 1175 Liberty Church Rd., Hiddenite, passed away Thursday May 3, 2012 at Catawba Valley Medical Center, after an extended illness. He was born December 11, 1936 in Caldwell County to the late William Glenn Coffey and Annie Rivers Coffey. Mr. Coffey served in the US Army. He was a retired construction worker. He was also of the Baptist Faith.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, Jerry Guy Coffey; a sister, Joyce Coffey McLain; two great grandchildren, James Wesley Minnick and Cody Glenn James.

He is survived by his wife, Bertha Lucille Pearson Coffey of Leland; two sons, Clifford Clay Coffey, Sr. of Hiddenite and Beauford Glenn Pearson of Leland; three daughters, Patricia Ann Coffey Chazis of Taylorsville, Sandra Sue Coffey of Leland, Debra Lynn Coffey of Hiddenite; four sisters, Loretta Phillips of Lexington, Shirley Willard, Lorain Tedder and Linda Sipe all of Taylorsville; eight grandchildren, Jason Michael Wayne Pearson, Willie Picket and wife Cindy, Dustin James, Amanda Surken and husband Anthony, Janda Baugess and husband Billy, Jessie Coffey and wife Tracy, James Derek Coffey, Clifford Clay Coffey, Jr.; and seventeen great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00pm Sunday May 6, 2012 at Boones Fork Baptist Church, 5324 US Hwy 221 South, Blowing Rock. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday from 1:00-2:00pm at Chapman Funeral Home.
